Xigbar and Xemnas: Morning coffee
Xigbar was not always the earliest to raise nor a very good morning person. But to his dismay he found himself jarred from his sleep, a nightmare most likely. So he walked through the halls with a big cup of coffee, and made his way to the music room. He opened all the blinds so he could watch the…
“Once something is started it is only right to finish it.” Xigbar sipped his coffee leaning on the wall listening to the other man play. He had skill but he played with a sheepish look on his face as though he was asleep while being awake. “Music seemed to drag all of us daydreamers to this place anyways.”
Xemnas finished the piece, and turned to Xigbar. “If we are to dream in the waking light, we may at least have decent music to accompany them.” Xemnas sighed at that, “And I would much prefer a waking dream to what comes for me in the dark.” For a brief moment, Xemnas allowed the weight of his Insomnia to reflect in his face, making him look years older than he was. Shaking his head, he regained his composure and looked to Xigbar. “I’m sorry, in all of this I have forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Xemnas. Might I inquire as to yours?”
Xemnas chuckled, “I don’t consider it a hobby, but more like something to pass the time. I rarely sleep anymore, so I need distractions to… to keep my mind occupied.” Xemnas sighed softly, “So whether it’s reading, learning an instrument, wandering the halls, or stargazing, I do whatever comes to mind.”
” I see…well I sort of do that too but most of the time I’m drawing. It has a calming effect on me and I just love do it. ” She answered while smiling at him softly. She was relieved that he wasn’t as scary as she thought.
“Drawings, huh?” Xemnas asked, intrigued. He had seen many artists and styles, and new art was always worth a look. “I would like to see some of them, if you wouldn’t mind…”
Xemnas noticed her shaking and sat up, tentatively putting an arm around her and gently pulling her close. “It is difficult to see them amidst a grand city, but Radiant Garden has great hills outside the city to stargaze.” Xemnas raised his hand and started pointing out constellations, giving a bit of the mythos behind each one he named.
She started to blush when he put his arm around her because she wasn’t prepared for something like that. After a while of listening to him she asked: ” You sure know a lot about the stars…and mythology. Is that a hobby of yours? ”
Xemnas chuckled. “It is simply that I cannot sleep. Haven’t for almost a week now.” Well technically it was a week, but he was far too tired to argue technicalities. “So I lay here and watch the stars like i used to back home. Where is your home?” Xemnas asked, laying back down to gaze at the stars again.
” I used to live in Shibuya…a huge city in Tokyo. But unfortunately when I used to live there I wasn’t able to watch the start like here. ” She explained while looking up to the sky. She trembled slightly because of the cold wind but she didn’t care as long as she could watch the stars.

Xigbar looked up slowly, recognizing the other man from somewhere. “Indeed I happen to know that garden of eden well.” Standing and grabbing the cup of coffee Xigbar turned searching his memories as if it was like sipping his coffee. “The melody is one well known there, beautiful really. Not many get to hear it in all its glory. What brings you up this early in the morning?” Xigbar turned back to the man sipping again from the cooling coffee.
“Music.” Xemnas smiled again, happy that his mind was still sharp enough to get a quick witticism out. “I don’t sleep, so I spend my time wandering the Asylum. I heard your elegant choice of music, and I came here to listen.” Xemnas walked over and sat down at another piano, stretching his hands and beginning to play The Sunlit Garden. “Forgive me, but once someone starts, I have to join in.” he said, fingers moving gracefully over the keys.
Xemnas gave a tired smile. It was an unusual name, but so was Xemnas. “So what, if I may impose, brings you into the night and amongst the Shadow?” Xemnas assumed it had to do with sleeping problems, that was the prime culprit for people being up this late, and he should know…
She sighed and explained: ” It’s simply I’ll just couldn’t sleep because of my nightmares…and what is your reason? ” She wasn’t sure if she really wanted to know what his reason was but it would be senseless if she wouldn’t ask.
Xemnas chuckled. “It is simply that I cannot sleep. Haven’t for almost a week now.” Well technically it was a week, but he was far too tired to argue technicalities. “So I lay here and watch the stars like i used to back home. Xigbar was not always the earliest to raise nor a very good morning person. But to his dismay he found himself jarred from his sleep, a nightmare most likely. So he walked through the halls with a big cup of coffee, and made his way to the music room. He opened all the blinds so he could watch the sun raise, then pulling a small side table to the piano he sat. My, it had been a good while since he had played a piano. There was one song he loved and still remembered how to play it. So setting his coffee down at the table he opened the piano. Then as the first beams of light broke the horizon he slowly moved his fingers playing a song called Dearly Beloved. The music seemed to ring through the empty halls, loud but soft.
It seemed to be Xemnas’s maddening lot to greet every sunrise, and indeed every sunset with a bleary eye, and this one was no exception. Popping the lid off of a Five Hour Energy, the silverette wandered the halls of the Asylum when the sound of a piano caught his ears. Curious, Xemnas followed the sound to a music room where a black haired man was playing from memory. Xemnas listened silently for a bit before realizing he knew the song. As the man finished, Xemnas gave a soft smile and said, “It’s been a long time since I heard someone play that. I didn’t realize there was another denizen from Radiant Gardens here besides me and my brothers…”
Xemnas stepped outside the front doors and wandered toward an open patch of grass on the lawn. This was night six of the current streak, and he was on edge. Already the shadows played with his mind, but he was ready this time. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out several glowsticks and cracked them, scattering them over the lawn and laying down to look at the stars above Destiny Island. Here and there, he saw shooting stars, and reminisced about home in Radiant Gardens.
Axel had been pacing almost frantically around his room. So maybe the dog ears and tail hadn’t helped him forget about his need to start fires. And the more he thought about it, the more stressed he got, which was not helping his situation in the slightest. He came to his window and saw a figure lying down in the grass, surrounded by glowsticks. Well it was better than nothing. Axel bolted from his room, not even caring about the Asylum’s curfew and rushed down and outside to where the other was sitting. He stood a few feet away from him a curious expression on his face. “Uh..hey there.” He gave a slight wave, trying to pretend like he hadn’t run down here just to see the glowsticks.
Xemnas looked to the sound of the greeting, surprised to find someone else up at this hour. Seeing the red-headed male, he moved to greet him, then stopped. The boy wasn’t inside the ring of glowsticks, but he had yet to see a red head be numbered amongst the Shadow. “Step into the light.” Xemnas’s deep voice commanded the red head.
